Client 95: One good turn deserves another

Vanessa, our 95th client, is a woman of great faith and charity. She is helping to raise her great-grandson, serves as a greeter in her church, and hopes to be a light for Jesus at her job at the Brazos Valley Coalition of Governments. Through that job, she had effectively saved up enough money to buy a reliable vehicle. But then a family member suffered a financial crisis. True to form, Vanessa generously emptied her savings to help out. Because of that choice, she has been forced to rely on her granddaughter for transportation, but this required her granddaughter to miss work. They simply couldn’t get ahead. So Jay Meador, one of our most faithful advocates in BCS, nominated Vanessa to us for a vehicle.

Vanessa, with God’s help, actually saved up and contributed a significant amount towards this purchase! She brought $1100 and OnRamp brought the rest to get her into a reliable Corolla that should (Lord-willing) last her many years. We’re so impressed when a client works extra hard to bring money to the table to help with the purchase. This multiplies OnRamp’s ministry by empowering us to use those funds to help bless the next family in line.

We want to thank Tara Lazaro and Jill Butler who took point on this interview, Rami Cerone and Joe Dewolf who found the vehicle, Christian Brothers for preparing it, and Mary Dunsmore for taking these pictures, shared with client permission.

We’ll have free lunch for all clients, advocates, donors, supporters, partners, volunteers… everyone connected to OnRamp in any way. It’ll be at noon at Central Church in College Station, and Evites will be going out soon. Kids will be welcome, too. Save the date!
