Client 234: Helping the Helper

On this Juneteenth we celebrate our 234th client, a leader in our community named Amber who is usually the one giving aid rather than receiving aid. Amber founded Brazos Valley Blessings in 2020 during Covid to provide Christmas presents to 25 local families in financial need. Since then, BVB has grown to provide a host of essential household items such as diapers, baby formula, and cleaning supplies to people in need throughout the year. Amber pushed herself to serve these families even while grieving the loss of her husband who passed away in 2021, leaving her to raise their four amazing kids without him. Despite her pain and hardship, she continually advocated for others in need, including sponsoring multiple clients to OnRamp so they could receive the reliable vehicles they needed to achieve self-sufficiency. Here’s Amber with our founder, Blake, giving away a vehicle in 2024 to one of her clients.

But now it was time for Amber to receive. Her SUV suffered a major engine failure, leaving her and her son and daughters without the reliable ride they needed to get to school, work, and BVB ministry events. So a good friend of Amber’s, our amazing Board of Directors member Tiffany Thompson, nominated Amber to us. Without hesitation we gifted her this reliable Honda that should help her family move forward with their education and careers so they can continue to provide essential service to our community. This single vehicle will end up serving not just this family of four but dozens if not hundreds of local people who count on Amber’s ministry to make it through the hardships of life. We are so blessed on this Juneteenth to serve this sister and her family as they serve Bryan/College Station. Together we can go further!
