We provide reliable transportation to people in need to get them on the road to self-sufficiency and to share with them the grace of God
Most of us take reliable transportation for granted. With the turn of a key we can get to work, to the store, or to the doctor with little fuss or worry. Yet for so many individuals and families in the Brazos Valley, reliable transportation is simply out of reach. With few public transportation options available, the lack of a reliable vehicle can severely limit access to jobs, stores, medical care, and social and religious services, and can trap people in the poverty cycle.
We can't fix every cause of poverty, but we can fix this
It is our vision that by 2025 no one in the Brazos Valley would be unable to work or care for their family because they lack reliable transportation. We hope to help hundreds of people in need by finding, donating, and maintaining reliable vehicles for them as a demonstration of our belief that they are unconditionally loved by God. To this end, we will work with sponsors from local charitable and religious organizations to identify people in need who are already taking significant steps towards self-sufficiency, but who need a vehicle to continue that journey. These sponsors will help potential clients apply to our program, and then help them determine what they can reasonably afford. OnRamp will then raise funds to purchase reliable vehicles or receive donated vehicles, and will then gift these vehicles to our clients so they can get back on the road without having to turn to predatory lenders. We will continue to meet with recipients throughout the first year of new car ownership to improve and service their vehicles and to help connect them with organizations and social services that will continue their journey forward. We are also committed to help if we can in cases where a potential client’s transportation needs are best served in alternative ways, such as repairing a broken vehicle, providing rides, or donating funds for alternative transportation such as bus tickets.
Please consider helping us help those in need
Current Status as of June 18, 2018: OnRamp is not currently accepting new clients. Our funds and volunteer time are already fully committed to our current slate of candidates. As additional funds and volunteers become available, we will once again accept new clients. Thank you for your understanding.
