Client 275: No More Dying in the Rain
As of noon today, 275 hard-working households have been gifted reliable vehicles and ongoing care by OnRamp since 2017! When Blake and Julie started OnRamp, they hoped to gift one or two vehicles a year. Now we gift one a week!
We need to keep today’s recipient completely private, but can share this moment of joy as our Board Member and Interviewer Catherine Cole handed this precious woman keys to her new Toyota, a reliable car that will help her achieve all her ambitious goals in the coming years. The electrical system in her previous vehicle had been so badly damaged by mice (they like the taste of wire insulation!) that it would short circuit and shut down in the rain. As I write this, torrential rain is falling here in College Station. She would have been stranded on the side of the road today. But not anymore!
A vehicle like this reliable Toyota is a vital tool to long-term security and success. As research has shown, “Automobile ownership has a greater impact on a person’s chances of being employed than having a high school diploma.” It is the silver bullet to a good job!
Thank you to all who joined us at TopGolf last Saturday for Drive with OnRamp! What a beautiful, fun, and meaningful evening. You helped us raise enough for two more vehicles for local families on our waiting list. We've still got a couple more days to reach our event goal of $60,000. If you can help us get over the finish line, please visit the link below to give. Any amount helps. And just so you know, the car we donated today was the cute, white Toyota parked out in front of the venue!
Today’s Free Car Tip
Never overfill your gas tank! When the auto-stop goes off on the pump handle, unless you are absolutely sure it was triggered accidentally, don't add any more fuel. "Topping off" a gas tank is actually destructive to your car because it can allow gasoline to flow up into the vent line at the top of the tank and flood the vapor/charcoal canister that's part of the evaporative control system (EVAP system), ruining it. That's easily a $400 mistake! We've seen it many times in vehicles we've bought and then prepped for OnRamp.
