Client 292: Serving a God of Second Chances

After struggling with addiction and being released from jail, Bethany walked straight into Adult and Teen Challenge in San Antonio with her newborn in tow. This year-long, faith-based residential program has helped many addicts turn their lives around. She completed the program and passed every drug test. She paid off her outstanding fees, got her license back, fulfilled her probation requirements, and gave her life to God.

Bethany now lives at home in Hearne with her baby, her mom, her sister who has a brain injury, and her grandpa. Bethany works 40 hours a week, and when she can’t get a ride she walks regardless of the heat outside. There is no viable public transportation, Uber, or Lyft in Hearne. To stay on a path towards self-sufficiency, Bethany needed a reliable vehicle of her own.

Fortunately, she had a mentor and advocate named JoAnn Willis (who you have heard us praise many times!) who leads another addiction recovery ministry called the Nest. JoAnn has known Bethany since she was twelve and calls her transformation miraculous. JoAnn nominated her to OnRamp and we joyfully gifted Bethany a reliable Toyota Camry last week.

God redeemed Bethany’s life, not just from sin, but from the scourge of addiction. Thank you to all our donors who enabled us to become part of His grand story of redemption in this sweet sister’s life.
