From Instability to Sufficiency: Client 285

At 18, Chyna aged out of the foster care system and, like so many in her situation, immediately became homeless. Yet she did not let that stop her from finishing high school. That determination caught the attention of Our Daughters' House in Brenham, a residential and mentoring ministry devoted to young women like Chyna who age out of foster care with courage but without the safety net most of us take for granted. They lovingly provided a safe, stable place to live, caring mentors, and space to breathe. With that support, Chyna has thrived! She has developed vital life skills, completed classes, found and maintained two jobs, and saved money.

But she faced a common hurdle: getting to work. Without reliable transportation, she could not continue her journey. When Our Daughters' House nominated Chyna to OnRamp, we knew immediately that this young woman deserved a partner on the road ahead.

This week, we gifted Chyna a reliable Honda Civic, and for the first time in her life, she has something that's truly hers. Not something borrowed. Not a hand-me-down. Hers. Now she can drive down to Houston to see her siblings, reconnect with family, and get to both jobs with the reliability she's worked so hard to build.

Want to know the most amazing part? Remember how she had built up her savings while working two jobs? After we gifted her the vehicle, she handed us a massive donation to help OnRamp serve the next client in line. That is not something we ever require or ask for. That was completely her own initiative and love as she seeks to follow Jesus. What an amazing young woman!

Here is why young adults like Chyna matter to us. The statistics are stark. Approximately 50% of young people who age out of foster care end up homeless, incarcerated, or dead within their first year. Only 1 in 2 will have gainful employment by age 24. These aren't just numbers; these are children of God facing brutal hardships. That's why this partnership with Our Daughters' House matters so deeply. When a mission-driven organization sees a young person's potential and says, "we love you and believe in you," and then OnRamp steps in to remove the transportation barrier, lives change. This is our way of proving: God sees you and wants you to flourish.

Chyna is now well on her way to a bright, self-sufficient future. And she got there because people like you believed that young adults aging out of foster care deserve a second chance, and a reliable car to get there.
