Client 260: the Ripple Effect

We need to come clean.

Last week we said OnRamp served 45 clients in 2025. That wasn't exactly true. It was actually a massive oversimplification. Yes, we gifted reliable vehicles to 45 households. But what we didn't tell you was that we intentionally choose clients who serve their extended families and communities - that’s one of the key qualities we look for. That means each vehicle creates a ripple effect, benefiting dozens of people.

Case in point: meet Jacqueline Gardner, our 260th client.

Last month, she received a Honda Accord that will impact countless lives. Jacqueline is a one-on-one coach with Scyster's Peer2Peer2Peer, an organization fighting substance misuse and mass incarceration through prevention, education, counseling, and advocacy. With over a decade as a substance abuse counselor and 32 years of personal recovery, she brings both expertise and Christ-centered hope to those seeking transformation.

But without a vehicle? She couldn't visit clients in prison or court, attend group sessions, or even get to church. After suffering a stroke, she couldn't access essential ongoing medical care. This gracious woman needed a hand up. Fortunately, The Nest, a recovery ministry she partners with, nominated her to OnRamp, and we said yes.

In Jacqueline's own words, here's what this Honda means:

"A reliable vehicle is the backbone of my work and family stability. I can show up on time for peer groups, one-on-one sessions, jail reentry meetings, court check-ins, and community partnerships. I can deliver training materials, visit job sites, and hold workshops at churches, shelters, and recovery homes. It helps me balance school (I'm pursuing a BA in Addiction Counseling), family needs, and health appointments without missing work. It removes the biggest barrier so I can keep my commitments and be present for my family and community."

One vehicle. Dozens of lives transformed. That's the OnRamp ripple effect.
