Meet Emma: From Kenya's Rugby Pitch to Texas A&M's Campus

Emma with her advocate Paul as she received her car from OnRamp.

Last week, we had the incredible honor of gifting our 243rd vehicle to Emma, and her story will blow you away!

This powerhouse woman represented Kenya on their National Rugby Team before coming to Texas A&M to pursue her PhD. She's still competing at the national level in Houston while serving as a teaching assistant in the Sports Management Program and volunteering with Athletes in Action and A&M’s Global Youth Sport for Development Program. Talk about a strong woman! 💪

But here's what really moved us: Despite her incredible achievements, Emma couldn't afford a vehicle. As an international student, she faced barriers to car loans that most of us never consider. She was spending hundreds on Uber just to get to church, work, and her ministry.

That's when her Bible study leader at Grace Bible Church, Paul Bolin, stepped up as her advocate. He saw Emma's astounding work ethic and Christ-like heart for serving younger athletes through A&M's Global Youth Sport for Development Program and knew she needed to be part of the OnRamp family.

Emma's words when we handed her the keys to her Honda Civic: "This vehicle represents freedom for my personal and social life, creation of opportunities and long-term success. A reliable vehicle would be transformative, enabling me to attend church services consistently every Sunday."

From Kenya's rugby fields to Texas classrooms to serving our community's youth, Emma embodies exactly what OnRamp is about. We partner with extraordinary people who just need that crucial stepping stone of a vehicle to unleash their full potential.

This is what transformation looks like. This is why we do what we do. 💙
