Requirements to Nominate

To nominate a person to OnRamp as a potential client, all of the following requirements must be true:

  1. You are not related to the applicant by blood or marriage, nor are you in a romantic relationship with the applicant.

  2. You work or volunteer with an Advocate organization such as a church, charity, school, health care provider, employer or government agency AND you are mentoring, leading, teaching, counseling, or caring for the applicant through this organization. You cannot nominate someone who is simply a friend or neighbor. You must be professionally caring for them in some way.

  3. You have personally known the applicant for at least 6 months, and have met with him or her multiple times. You truly know the applicant and can vouch for his or her character and need. Note that OnRamp occasionally makes exceptions to the 6-month timeframe, but you must email clientcare@onramptx.org and request an exception before you can nominate.

  4. You have already confirmed that the applicant has a valid drivers’ license.

  5. You have already confirmed that the applicant has positive monthly cash flow sufficient to afford gas and insurance for a car. This means that either (1) the applicant is already paying for insurance and fuel on another vehicle which needs to be replaced, or (2) the applicant’s monthly income exceeds all monthly expenses by at least $300 so they can consistently afford gas and insurance.

  6. Barring unforeseen circumstances, you commit to stay in regular contact with the applicant and OnRamp for at least 12 months if they receive a vehicle from OnRamp. You will contact the applicant at least monthly to ensure they are staying focused and working towards their goals.

If you and the applicant meet ALL SIX REQUIREMENTS above, then you may nominate the applicant to our program. Click the button below that corresponds to where the APPLICANT lives.

 
Brazos Valley

NOMINATE an applicant living in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Robertson, or Washington county

 
DFW

NOMINATE an applicant living in the Dallas / Ft Worth counties of Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, or Rockwall

 
Coastal Bend

NOMINATE an applicant living in the Coastal Bend counties of Victoria, Calhoun, Matagorda, Jackson, Lavaca, Gonzales, Dewitt, Goliad, Regugio, or Aransas.

 
San Antonio

NOMINATE an applicant living in San Antonio, including all of Bexar county and portions of Medina and Comal counties.

 

If you do not meet these requirements, you are welcome to help the applicant attempt to find another advocate who can meet these requirements. That person can complete the nomination.
